My name is Summer Munson. I am a former employee of Pilot Flying J in Hubbard, Ohio. I was not only a dedicated employee who worked hard to get the job done, but I also ensured a great experience for many guests, fellow employees, and drivers. I was a fast learner, hardworking, and above all, very kind to everyone. I worked midnights with Michelle Odell and Heidi Markel. Michelle was a sweetheart. However, Heidi Markel was a poor investment, a bad manager, and a terrible representation of the company. Not only did Heidi ruin my Pilot career, but she also significantly harmed my health, both mentally and physically.
Even after earning the respect of everyone there, including Clint, Rodney, and Tonya Webb, and being in the process of being promoted to management, Heidi took it as a personal attack and targeted me. I not only did all the work while she sat on her phone throughout the shift but bore her abuse for over a year and a half. Heidi subjected me to mental, emotional, and physical abuse. She defamed my character by lying about my work ethic and appropriating my work. Heidi used intimidation, blackmail, and threats to coerce me into accepting this abuse and eventually quit.
Heidi showed up to work under the influence of multiple drugs, including marijuana, psychedelic mushrooms, Xanax, cocaine, and prescription pills that were not prescribed to her. It impaired her judgment and put both me, and customers at risk. As the manager on duty, she would refuse to do any assigned duties. Heidi would shut down the shower hallway because she didn't want to clean the showers, refused to prepare any food overnight per customer request, failed to clean the coffee bar or the coffee pots effectively (resulting in serving coffee with grinds in it to customers). She would offer dirty showers to drivers, neglected the floors, and forced me and Michelle Odell to do all the work, all while refusing to ring customers and disappearing during her shift.
She intentionally did not stock the fruit case and knowingly sold expired fruit and sandwiches to customers, which resulted in them getting sick. She would let the fresh fruit and sandwiches sit in the prep fridge until they expired. Heidi refused to do laundry for the showers and didn't perform the necessary temperature checks for the food when other managers called in sick. Heidi never adhered to the dress code and would wear leggings, a plain black t-shirt, and slide sandals instead.
There were incidents where Heidi shoved Michelle during a shift, and threw a towel in a customer's face - something that was reported by the customers. She would actively spew hate speech to customers and other co-workers. She was often negative regarding politics and religion and would badmouth all of the management and other staff. She was openly racist and homophobic. She expressed disturbing thoughts outright, such as wanting other countries to bomb the U.S and mentioning her readiness to die. She made insensitive comments to fellow manager Michelle Odell by disregarding her sister's death.
Heidi frequently made inappropriate posts about the company, Tonya Webb, Jeffrey P (Assistant Manager), Heather, Michelle Odell, etc., on Facebook. She made drug deals with customers and intimidated me into keeping quiet. Heidi refused to clean the restrooms or the area where we serve hot food and pizzas. She would give away every single coffee for free and allowed customers to make returns on anything even if it violated company policy.
I could have taken my case to corporate when Heidi forced me to quit for my own safety, but instead, I chose to leave with dignity and move on. However, it has recently come to my attention that Heidi Markel continues to make defamatory posts about me on Facebook using my full name and calling me several slurs and derogatory names. Heidi has also threatened Jeffrey P. She also forced Michelle Odell to give her rides to work for six months without reimbursement for her gas or time, otherwise she would retaliate and verbally abuse her.
It has been over two months since I left Pilot, yet Heidi still finds it necessary to target and defame me. I originally intended to walk away from the harassment and abuse, but seeing as Heidi has made it her personal mission to attack me, I am left with no choice but to involve my cousin's law firm, Whalen Law, and its lawyer John Jarrett Kennedy Whalen. Not only is the abuse that Heidi has subjected me to illegal, she is a poor excuse for both a manager and a human being. A heroin addict, a dealer, and a felon who has one-sided beef with a young girl half her age is in no place to represent Pilot. Neither as an employee nor a manager.
It is shameful that Pilot allows such abhorrent behavior to continue at the expense of its best employees. I am considering drawing attention to this issue on social media as it is unsafe for anyone to be around Heidi Markel. She has used the company phone to make threats, including threatening to shoot and kill her daughter's boyfriend in front of several customers, including a police officer who almost conducted a welfare check. Heidi does not pay for the food or drinks she consumes at work, which are items not covered by our discount.
Every employee, customer, and VR driver could testify that everything in this email is truthful. I also have screenshots of some of the posts she made, text messages of her interacting offensively with me personally. I have photos of her at Flying J, displaying some of the drugs she takes on shift, including mushroom and marijuana gummies, and her purse full of illegally purchased prescription pills. If that isn't sufficient to verify, just watch the surveillance footage.
I would love to speak to a corporate representative about this over the phone and send some of the photos I have. I am sure Pilot would appreciate seeing just how poorly they've erred in hiring and promoting such a deplorable and unstable individual. Thank you. I look forward to hearing from you.

I was terminated today because I called in today and yesterday for having the flu last time I was written up/documented I had a virus which I got from another employee because she made him wear a mask and stay at work I got a virus from him I got written up / documented because I brought my doctor note in 30 minutes before my shift I was still asked to wear a mask and come to work that's against the health code policy. I would definitely be careful eating here coming to this establishment in genera. I worked strictly back line with food!!!

Yesterday, 7/13/24, while parked at the Pilot in Jackson, GA, I renewed my wifi access for the month for the premium wifi. I used the wifi all day and until I went to sleep a little after midnight.
This morning after waking up, both, the free and premium wifi is powered off. If it was on, I would see the names in my wifi options to connect to. When the router to the parking lot is turned off, the names disappear because there's no signal going to the parking lot anymore. Or anywhere else for that matter.
I called the store this morning to ask why it's off after working perfectly fine yesterday and last night, I was told by the manager because it gets interference from the nearby truck stops wifi service. I explained it was on yesterday and off today and how I can tell. The manager said I was wrong, that there is no power button to the wifi router and if there was, they don't know where it's at and aren't allowed to touch it. Before I could say anything, she rudely hung up on me.
I believe the problem, which happens at many truck stops, is employees inside want to have all the bandwidth of the internet signal so they can play on their personal devices and not have a slow or stalled signal. They don't want us drivers that pay for the internet to use it because it slows the signal down too much for them to enjoy it. I want this problem fixed. It's not enough to investigate it, or look into it.
The problem has to be corrected because drivers pay for the internet. I pay $20 a month and sometimes $99 for the year.
I've been doing this a long time and I know what is going on. Fix your employees or get new ones.
Preferred solution: I want the employees to stop turning the wifi off to the parking lot so they can have all the signal for themselves inside the store.

I spend thousands of dollars every year with Pilot and Flying J. All I wanted to do yesterday was the exchange these headphones out at the Pilot and Flying J andChecotah Oklahoma the lady said I had to have a physical receipt I said I dont have it.but I have it on my phone app And she said no.
And they only have a seven day return policy now that its been eight days. I will never exchange these headphones out because of the manager at Dakota Oklahoma. that is total Hocus Pocus *** I guess the pilot and Flying J needs my $165 more than I do. Im struggling to survive and I didnt even have these headphones a week and they broke on me.
That is *** I will never spend another *** dime at the Flying J again. Sorry, excuse excuse motherfuckers!

My husband has been I'm the hospital with pneumonia since last Tuesdsy morning. The other day I tried to load funds onto my app for a shower, i added 15.
I didn't know it was 17 and when I tried to add more it told me to contact you guys and I did. Yesterday and this morning and tonight I paid for a shower because they're aren't showers in the hospital we are in. Anyways at your store in Olive Branch , MS you have a girl named Jennifer that works there. She was super rude.The other day when I was talking to her I thought she was a good person.
Well even after paying for my shower tonight i was making conversation and saying when I got out of the shower I was gonna see what they had left in the hot bar so I could BUY something. She automatically cuts me off and acts like I'm begging. Definitely not the case, I'm sure I make more than her.
Talking about how folks use loopholes to get stuff for free so basically she seemed like I was begging and that's not okay. The way I feel right now I could have slapped the *** out of her and not felt bad about it at all

I attempted to purchase fuel on pump #8. The pump comp screen initializing key on the lower right corner was totally malfunctioning.
The keypad had been destroyed by hard objects in an attempt to complete several customers' satisfaction. This key screen shows approximately fifty-five attempts before me. I had to move to pump #6. The lazy supervisor and district manager need to be off for 10 days without pay.
The customer is number 1.

I've paid for reserve parking! This place is *** One way in and one way out! Not enough parking, poorly designed! Employees are talking and not working!
But no one wants to clean the bathrooms so we can shower! There's food being served and working toilets, so why are they lying about the showers not working? It's very sad that all the drivers have to stay dirty with smelly balls!
If it wasn't for us, America could not be great! This has to stop!

I had the police called on me and an employee tell me not to come back in store until a certain time because the coworker didn't like what I said in front of manager, manager came to me and asked me the problem and I said the employee was being rude to me so when manager left he called the police on me while I was ordering from Denny's restaurant saying I was hanging around while I'm a pilot member and loyal customer

Im a truck driver dropped my load from AZ reserved my parking on line parked at 3pm its now 10:30pm man with no teeth an a stupid flashlight bagging on my window asking for a receipt ok I get it reserved parking but there is a parking spot on each side of me meaning there is ample spaces to park!!! Wtf is wrong with people my company spends ample money for me to come here a fuel as like my counterparts the harassment we as truck drivers endure is gross and shameful, theses establishment need to be more considerate of there customers seriously
