Pilot gas held $151.00 pre-authorized payment on our debit card for 28.41 worth of feul. WOW, who does that?

Not only are we traveling, but we used to only use Pilot, until today!! I think it is time to start a trending boycott #neverpilotagain. Marion, IL was our stop, if i were not checking our bank account after each purchase we made, this charge would have been final. We went into the store to inquire about the amount, and the manager stated that this is common practice for Pilot corporations.

She said that Pilot can randomly choose pumps at anytime to hold these $151.00 pre-authorized headaches. So, while traveling with our family this holiday season, and stopping at 4 Pilots along the way, we stood the chance of having just over $600.00 held on our debit cards for about $140.00 worth of gas.

Unsatisfactory Pilot!!! So, #neverpilotagain EVER!!

Pilot is our preferred place to gas up and rest while traveling the country. However, they do post a "pending" charge to your card of a rather large amount but that charge goes away in a day or two.

They post this pending charge in order to ensure you actually are within the limit of the card. It is thus wise to never use a debit card at a Pilot or any retailer that does this or to use a debit card for anything as gas stations are notorious for thieves hacking their card ports at the pumps. Do some research on this topic. With a credit card and a good credit limit, this pending charge does not harm you.

Never use a debit card is the bottom line.

If you use a debit card and it is "hacked" you will lose your money now. Now you know.
